5TH STORY BY PRINCESS
I set for the kitchen, ensuring I used my sardine canned fish, beef and other good stuffs I laid my hands on in my cupboard, am not a bad cook though but this thing about wanting to over please and not mess things up got me the embarrassment of my life.
I inhaled the aroma and nodded to the sweet aroma coming from the pot of jollof rice with stuffs like canned fish, beef, dried fish and egg all in this pot.
Satisfied with what I have done, I then decided to taste my "delicious" meal... I got the shock of my life... Hmmm!!! the food was over seasoned with so much curry and salt was the order of the day...jeez too much salt... Confused on what else to do,I decided to brave up, I dished the food, smiled as I walked toward my guest, he smiled back, complimenting the aroma of the food I was bringing to him.
After serving him, I immediately dished mine too before he starts eating.. When he took the first spoon, instead of apologizing for messing up,I looked at him and said "oh sorry, I eat a lot of salt, would have asked you earlier if you also do, am sure it will be too salty for you, but its absolutely ok for me" he said no problem that he will manage it and that it ain't so bad, I felt a bit relived as I thought he had actually bought into what I just said...
My people, that guy is a badoo ☺º°˚˚°ºoo, years later(after I had broken up with his brother) we got talking over the phone(as we were still kinda close) he then reminded and mocked me on the food incident and how I tried to cover it up with the "I eat salt" lies.. He told me how foolish I sounded to him then, and how he teased me to his friends and his brother when he got back home that day... I felt like entering inside myself during the conversation as the brother never mentioned it to me.
Thank God it was a phone conversation though we laughed about it but am still trying to imagine how his friends and brother would have been looking at me all those years.... Anyways stuff happens...
